As a seasoned fan of teams that manage epic slumps (Avalanche, Nuggets, Rockies, Saints, Red Sox… this is getting depressing) sometimes you just have to look for the little victories amidst a big steaming pile of crap.
Colorado will need to remanufacture their road dominance from 2010 if they hope to make it back to the postseason. With five home games versus eight road games in both February and March, the Avalanche will need to dig deep to stay afloat in the tight Western Conference playoff race.
What it comes down to, is that the Avalanche need somebody, anybody to force this team forward ahead of Calgary’s charge. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long offseason for the Colorado hockey faithful.
There are some players who are elites and some player who are merely good. The difference between them is when the season comes to its end, the good player maintain while the elites raise their game. I’ve yet to see Anderson raise his game.
The United States Olympic Men’s Hockey Team will face the Swiss Olympic Team tomorrow afternoon, three days after upsetting the favored Canadian Team in the Group Round.
