This summer I had the pleasure to sit down with Colorado Mammoth defenseman Chris McKay while he was in town for a lacrosse tournament. Chris joined the team mid season, and while the Mammoth had a rough go of it, Chris is optimistic for next season.
After last night’s game at the Pepsi Center against the Toronto Rock, the Mammoth coaching staff have some very hard decisions to make. Unfortunately, regardless of the score, I don’t think the players made it any easier for them.
When does a player’s actions outweigh their contributions?
Anymore, it’s not that uncommon to have players do something either on or off the field that makes you question if they should even be playing. But for good or bad, because they have a huge impact on the field everything else has a blind eye turned towards it. Or maybe because they play for your team it’s not considered as bad. The Colorado Mammoth’s final game against the Calgary Roughnecks was hard-fought, with several reviewed goals so close they required an astute eye and easily could have gone either way. The Mammoth went into the game fighting to end their season on a high note and break their home losing streak. The Roughnecks on the other hand were fighting to stay in the race for a home playoff game.

While the Colorado Mammoth may not have had a perfect weekend, they managed to keep their slim playoff hopes alive with some help from the Minnesota Swarm.
The Mammoth must have an overtime fairy. How else can you explain that the only wins the Mammoth have this season have come in overtime? Or that they were still able to win against Buffalo despite Colorado doing almost everything possible to give the Bandits the game?
