Melissa Dafni

A Colorado native, Melissa has been in love with sports since she was a child. Growing up with the Orange Crush and the Three Amigos, football was the dominant sport, but it had a strong rival in hockey and watching the Colorado Flames play at McNichols Arena. Melissa has been a Avalanche fan since they played at McNichols, but while she has enjoyed some of the other local teams, she has been most passionate about lacrosse since the Mammoth came to town. • Mammoth Extend Knighthawk’s Losing Streak - 29 Jan 2012 in Mammoth

The last time the Knighthawks played in Denver, John Grant Jr played for the other team. After the Orlando Titans disbanded, the Colorado Mammoth acquired Matt Vinc in the dispersal draft, however, he refused to play for Colorado. Something Willie B. Hung took great delight in taunting during the game as the Mammoth took the [...]

  • Mammoth Victorious in Battle of Alberta - 22 Jan 2012 in Mammoth

While the term Battle of Alberta is usually reserved for when Edmonton and Calgary face off, the past few seasons, the Mammoth have had their own Battle of Alberta facing off against both Edmonton and Calgary in back to back games. Playing a barn to barn game is tough enough but at least you’re playing [...]

  • Mammoth Win by a Langtry - 15 Jan 2012 in Mammoth

How fitting is it though that on the night the Mammoth retires Brian Langtry’s number 6 jersey, the Mammoth win by six goals?

  • Minnesota Swarm Sweep Colorado Mammoth - 25 Apr 2011 in Mammoth

In what could be viewed as a potential playoff match-up, the Colorado Mammoth and Minnesota Swarm closed out the regular season at Xcel Energy Center.   Despite the Swarm really being the only team still with something to play for, (second place in the Western Division and a home playoff game), play for most of the [...]

  • Mammoth Claim Final Playoff Spot - 17 Apr 2011 in Mammoth

The Colorado Mammoth beat the Calgary Roughnecks in Denver to clinch a playoff spot on Friday night. The two may meet up in the postseason.

  • Mammoth Still in Playoff Hunt - 11 Apr 2011 in Mammoth

The rivalry between the Calgary Roughnecks and the Colorado Mammoth is long-standing with much of it stemming from playoff battles. This year might not be any different.

  • Mammoth Split Back to Back Games with Rush - 04 Apr 2011 in Mammoth

Heading into Friday night, both the Colorado Mammoth and the Edmonton Rush had a lot riding on the line.  Although the Rush have a slightly better record than the Mammoth, both teams are fighting for fourth place and the final spot in the playoffs.  The Mammoth offense has continued to struggle all season despite (or [...]

  • Mammoth Break Home Losing Streak - 30 Mar 2011 in Mammoth

Leading up to the National Lacrosse League trade deadline, things were pretty quiet overall… and then the Colorado Mammoth made some moves. They reacquired former captain Gavin Prout from the Edmonton Rush, and Joel Dalgarno and Ian Hawksbee from the Washington Stealth. Although the Prout trade got the most coverage, Dalgarno had the bigger impact… [...]

  • The Fan Perspective - 24 Feb 2011 in General&Mammoth&Off-Topic&Opinion

Although we’re all fans of lacrosse, I think in general, players and those involved on the business side tend to forget what it’s like to be a fan. Fans feel a sense of ownership and even protectiveness over their teams and players, even if it’s completely irrational.

  • Mammoth Drop Back to Back Games - 22 Feb 2011 in Mammoth

The Mammoth offense needs to get over themselves. I don’t care who you are, where you’ve played, what accolades you’ve received or what trophies you’ve won. If you’re not scoring, there are issues. If you can’t play hard for four quarters, or play as a team, or actually play intelligently, then sit your ass down.
