NFL Week 16: Weekend Preview & Predictions

Can Matt Ryan & the Falcons finish what they started in the NFC South and trump the SB Champ Saints?

Cowboys @ Cardinals
The Cardinals offense is terrible (except when they play the Broncos), and the Cowboys are averaging over 32 points per game since Jason Garrett took over as coach.  I smell a beatdown.

Prediction: Cowboys 34, Cardinals 14

Titans @ Chiefs
After snapping a six-game losing streak, the Titans have to travel to Arrowhead (in December) to meet the AFC West-leading Chiefs.  Let the next Titans losing streak begin!

Prediction: Chiefs 27, Titans 13

49ers @ Rams
They both have losing records in week 16, yet this game is important.  Damn the NFC West sucks.  Anyway, home field should help the Rams edge out a win here.

Prediction: Rams 20, 49ers 17

Jets @ Bears
The Bears are fighting for a 1st-round Bye on their home field, and the Jets have been dealing with the distraction of coach Rex Ryan’s personal life. (Apparently the reason he got into football is because the name of the game has the word “foot” in it.)  Advantage: Bears.

Prediction: Bears 24, Jets 16

Ravens @ Browns
By this time the Steelers should have a half-game lead over them, so the Ravens will need to win to keep the pressure on.  That won’t be a problem against the dismal Browns.

Prediction: Ravens 24, Browns 6

Patriots @ Bills
The Patriots can clinch home-field advantage with a win.  Even with Tom Brady battling the flu, the Bills should be no match for the boys from New England.

Prediction: Patriots 35, Bills 20

Lions @ Dolphins
The Dolphins are terrible at home, and the Lions just ended their 3+ year road drought.  I’m thinking upset.

Prediction: Lions 21, Dolphins 17

Redskins @ Jaguars
Coming off a loss in Indy, and with the Colts controlling their own destiny, the Jaguars cannot afford to lose.  Maurice Jones-Drew should have a big day against the NFL’s worst defense.

Prediction: Jaguars 27, Redskins 21

Colts @ Raiders
Peyton Manning is back to form after his long slump.  Oakland is not an easy place to play, but Manning should be up to the challenge.

Prediction: Colts 28, Raiders 21

Texans @ Broncos
Tim Tebow will make his first home start for the Broncos, and will probably provide a spark.  However, the Broncos’ awful defense will have major problems with the high-powered Texans offense.

Prediction: Texans 31, Broncos 24

Chargers @ Bengals
The Bengals snapped their long losing streak last week but lost Terrell Owens in the process.  Philip Rivers and crew have to win this one, and they will.

Prediction: Chargers 38, Bengals 20

Giants @ Packers
The Packers gave the mighty Patiots a run for their money last week without Aaron Rodgers.  With Rodgers returning this week in a must-win game, the Packers offense should be strong.  I believe the Pack’s talented defense will give Eli Manning enough trouble to make the difference.

Prediction: Packers 27, Giants 20

Seahawks @ Buccaneers
The Bucs were stunned a week ago by the Lions and their playoff chances are hanging by a thread.  Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was benched last week during a poor performance against Atlanta.  Tampa should take this one.

Prediction: Buccaneers 24, Seahawks 14

Vikings @ Eagles
The Eagles are riding high after their remarkable comeback win against the Giants.  With Brett Favre likely out and rookie Joe Webb starting at QB, the Eagles will not have suffer a letdown.

Prediction: Eagles 31, Vikings 10

Saints @ Falcons
The matchup of the week.  Both teams appear to be playoff-bound, and the Falcons can lock up home-field in the NFC with a win.  This one could go either way.  But QB Matt Ryan and the Falcons are very strong at home and I believe they will get it done with the NFC South division on the line.

Prediction: Falcons 27, Saints 21
